Phrasal verbs for business, phrasal verbs from movies, now we have phrasal verbs that can be used at home. Today's lesson will cover phrasal verbs that we can use in our daily lives at home, at a friend's house, at a hotel as well as other places and situations. Imagine, you are trying to study, and the music, is too loud, how can you ask your neighbor to..hm...ahhhh turn down the music? Another example, you are at home, but you are cold, you want to make the house warmer...hmm...ahhh turn the heat up. Lets continue!



Phrasal Verbs


1. Heat up:

  • Definition: To make something hotter or increase in temperature.

  • Examples:

  • Please heat up the soup before serving.

  • She used the microwave to heat up her leftovers.

  • We need to heat up the room with a heater.

2. Cool down:

  • Definition: To lower the temperature or make something cooler.

3. Pull in:

  • Definition: To arrive at a location, often in a vehicle.

4. Pull out:

  • Definition: To leave a place, often in a vehicle.

  • Examples:

5. Turn up:

  • Definition: To increase in volume, intensity, or level.

  • Examples:

  • Can you turn up the music? It's too quiet.

  • She turned up the heat to warm the room quickly.

6. Turn down:

  • Definition: To decrease in volume, intensity, or level.

  • Examples:

  • Please turn down the TV; it's too loud.

  • They had to turn down the offer due to scheduling conflicts.

  • The teacher asked the students to turn down the noise in the classroom.

7. Turn on:

  • Definition: To activate or start the operation of a device.

  • Examples:

  • Don't forget to turn on the lights when you enter the room.

  • She turned on the coffee maker to brew a fresh pot.

  • It's time to turn on the computer and start working.

8. Turn off:

  • Definition: To deactivate or stop the operation of a device.

  • Examples:

  • Before leaving, make sure to turn off all the lights.

  • Please turn off your phone during the movie.

9. Warm up:

  • Definition: To increase the temperature or prepare for an activity.

  • Examples:

10. Tidy up:

  • Definition: To organize or clean a space.

  • Examples:

11. Clean up:

  • Definition: To make something clean or free from dirt or mess.

  • Examples:

12. Take out:

  • Definition: To remove or extract something from a place.

  • Examples:

13. Put on:

  • Definition: To wear or dress oneself in clothing.

  • Examples:

14. Put away:

  • Definition: To store or place something in its designated location.

  • Examples:

  • After playing, make sure to put away your toys.

Story
